Question: Could the Black Plague happen again!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Not with the bubonic plague, but with other deadly diseases without cures, yes, most definitely!. If it did happen again, it would spread hundreds of times faster because of how people travel in today's world!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Black plague (bubonic plague) is a bacterial infection that is quite rare at the moment, so it would respond well to antibiotics!. MRSA, on the other hand, is a bacterial infection that does not respond to common antibiotics!.

If there was to be another pandemic that kills 35-50% of it's victims, it would either be a virus, like bird flu, or a MRSA-type bacterial infection!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Bubonic plague is thought to have returned every generation with varying virulence and mortalities until the 1700s!.[11] During this period, more than 100 plague epidemics swept across Europe!.[12] On its return in 1603, the plague killed 38,000 Londoners!.[13] Other notable 17th century outbreaks were the Italian Plague of 1629–1631, and the Great Plague of Seville (1647–1652), the Great Plague of London (1665–1666),[14] and the Great Plague of Vienna (1679)!. There is some controversy over the identity of the disease, but in its virulent form, after the Great Plague of Marseille in 1720–1722,[15] the Great Plague of 1738 (which hit eastern Europe), and the 1771 plague in Moscow, it seems to have disappeared from Europe in the 19th century!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Modern research has discredited the rats and fleas bubonic plague theory!. Study of the spread of infection and the bones of plague victims suggest the Black death is more likely to have been a viral infection!. So, yes, it COULD happen again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
