Position:Home>History> WW2 military uniforms?

Question: WW2 military uniforms!?
I have to describe several uniforms of WW2 and I am stuck on the caps worn sometimes by Nazi soldiers!. I think they were commonly worn by alpine regiments and were typically dark green or grey!.

I want to call them 'baseball caps', as this is the closest match I can think of but I know this isn't the right term!.

Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood wear them in the film 'Where Eagles Dare'!. Any ideas!?

Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The military name for the "baseball cap" style of cap is "forage cap"!. Not sure of the name in German though!.

Haven't seen that film for years but its a great adventure - must get it on DVD next time I'm in town!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Great Movie!.!.!.

That style of cap was the Feldmutze (translates to Field-Cap), and is the Allied equivalent would be a Forage Cap!.

It's a peaked field cap initially called the Bergmütze, but this was later replaced by the M43 Einheitsfeldmütze, a very similar item which had a larger peak!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A forage hat, also a billed hat, also a peaked hat!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
