Question: Medieval History - Needed For My Story!!?
First of all I want to explain what i mean on the question!. I have come up with plenty of ideas and thoughts about a particular story i would love to write!. I have jotted down most of them, but am finding it hard to fit all the pieces together!. For example, I want to set it in Medieval times!.!. like knights, castles, horses, blacksmiths in villages, wooden houses, etc!.
But with all this it gets complicated!. I need to know:

What dates can be used for the story!?

How a city/settlement/kingdom would "work" in those times!? (Shops, what would be going on, taxes etc!.)

What sort of things they would wear according to status!? (peasant, nobleman, etc!.)

What laws or rules surround marriage!? (Age, can the man be younger, what happens for peasants etc!.)

What jobs certain people in the society would do!? (For a job what would the noblemen/kings/peasants do!?)

What would they do in their spare time!? (If they have any!.)

And lastly, what the deal is about being a Knight!? (Like in Arthurian legend i suppose, what would their job be, what is their place in the hierarchy, and how are they treated by other groups )

I know this is a lot to ask, but I really would like to know!. I've tried many sites to find out this stuff, but they rarely match and its hard to know what true and what isn't!. So please, please don't just type in a website name and just say "Use this"!. It probably wont help like i need it to, because my questions are very specific to my story!.

Thank you in advance for this!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think perhaps you are being too broad in your time period!. The medieval period is about 400 to 500 years long, and that doesn't include what we term the Early Medieval period (Saxons/Vikings that kind of thing)!. I would advise that you choose a century and then start researching from there!.

Look up 11th century, 12th century, 13th century, 14th century and 15th century and see what you like!. The traditional idea of what a knight is and the knightly code can be directly linked to Edward III if thats of any help, so you'd be looking at 14th century!.

Once you've chosen a specific time period you will find that all your research falls into place!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
