Good for hacking, slashing, and bashing, it tended to be cheaper than a sword, which few Vikings could afford (usually Viking chieftains carried swords as they would have been the only ones to really afford them)!. Plus it had the advantage of being both a melee weapon and a ranged combat weapon!.Www@QuestionHome@Com hahah my ancestors were vikings!. Most of them were peaceful merchants and peasants though and eventually settled in England and the surrounding areas in Scandinavia!. but to answer your question: anything that could inflict pain and kill!. Iron swords, hammers, bow and arrow, spears, axes!.!.!. depends on the era you are studying!. did you know that vikings would also eat poisonous mushrooms before battle to induce indifference and hallucinatory strength!?
