Hmmm, why 1945!. Reagan was the eldest to be elected into office at age 69 and stayed in office 8 years till age 77 (or so)!. In contrast FDR died in office at age 63!.

However we also have Robert Byrd, age 91 (born in 1917), who is the President Pro Tempor of the Senate, and after Dick Cheney, and Nancy Pelosi, would be third to assume the Presidency!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ronald Reagan!. He was 69 when he was elected and turned 70 shortly after he took office!. Since he served two full four-year terms, he broke two previous records--those ofd William Henry Harrison, who took office at 69 (1841) and died a month later, and of Dwight Eisenhower, who turned 70 in the fall of 1960, a few months before leaving office!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ronald Reagan!. But tomorrow John McCain will officially be the oldest to be elected!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
