WW2 picked up where WW1 ended with the Treaty of Versailles which was was so tough it lead to massive poverty in Germany leading to a revolt 1933 by the National Socialist German Workers' Party -- the Nazi Party -- lead by Adolf Hitler!.

Had Adolf been killed in before 1939 his name would be held as a great man of history, Its his racism that ultimately destroyed him and millions of others!.

You could successfully argue that WW2 was just a continuation of WW1 and that the pause in between is the really interesting area of study!.

Adolf was democratically elected, although though his hold on power suggests he may have used questionable means at times!. but there no suggestion by any historian that any one else could have beaten him in an open election, he was unbelievably popular with the majority!.

Adolf Nationalized almost all private businesses and the banks, using the money to re-equip a starving Germany!.

He the attempted to recover Germanic lands he felt had been lost to foreigners, then expanded that to a vision of a centralized socialist government over all of Europe!.

Britain had a mutual defence pact with Poland, when that was invaded Britain was obliged to try to stop the invasion!. Australia a member of the commonwealth and according to its treaties with Britain was obliged to enter the war also

Japan was an ally of Germany and set out to invade Australia, but not Tasmania, that was reserved for the German Nationals living in Australia!.

Kakoda trail was the path over the mountains of New Guinea allowing a land attack on Port Morsby from where the attack on Australia would be launched!.

The Australian troops stopped the Japanese advance on the trail saving Australia from invasion!.

Had the Japanese New Guinea advance succeeded the plan was to retreat to Townsville!. and surrender the north!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
