My thinking is that the American Civil War was the first real industrial war!.

The North were making muskets by machine, thus each musket exactly matched all the others!.

Likewise the production of other war materials on a massed production scale - the Industrial Revolution was well underway in both US and UK - railroads, the telepgraph, etc!.

but guns where used in the english civil war too, and so where cavalry (not sure about the machine guns though, the american civil war had self repeating guns, but nothing that was truly rapid fire)
there where many wars in this era, i think the first truly industrial civil war was probably an obscure one that nobody remembers unless they look in a history bookWww@QuestionHome@Com

The Roman conquest of Northern Europe was 'industrial' in the sense that mass produced armour and mechanised weapons were widely used!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would say the civil war but that's mainly my opinion Www@QuestionHome@Com
