Before!.

Alexander's reign: 336-323 BC
Ceasar's : 44BC

(Though it is hard to choose one single day that established the empire)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Alexander the Great: Born July 20, 356 BCE!. Died June 10 or June 11, 323 BCE

Roman Republic established: 510 BCE

Roman Empire Established: August, 30 BCE

so to answer your question; Alexander's reign occurred before the imperial era of Rome!. However Rome was an established state when Alexander was campaigning in the east, but had not yet risen to ascendancy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
