Question: Why did Al Capone do the St!. Valentine's Day Massacre!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
He wanted to eliminate his competition, namely Bugs Moran and his gang!.

Moran controlled the north side of Chicago and Al Capone controlled the south side!. They had always been bitter enemies but Big Al wanted to eliminate Bugsy once and for all!.

Al made sure he was in Florida when the massacre took place but Capone's gang blew it!. They mistook another gang member for Bugs when he entered the cartage company on Clark Street where the attack occured!. Moran lived 'another day!.' The location of the SVDM is several blocks south of Wrigley Field on Clark!.

Paradoxically, this was the beginning of the end for Capone!. The public was outraged by these barbaric murders and a more concerted effort was undertaken to put an end to Capone's reign in Chicago!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To be afir to the fisrst guy who answered he gave a great answer!. But really you do not need that much detail until at least A-Level!. The reason why he conducted the massacre was that he had rival gangs!. The biggest was the Bug's Moran gang!. He lured them and shot the elading members of the gang!. This eliminated that particular gang, in doing this Al Capone scared away other rising gangs through tyranny and this ensured his supremacy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
