Question: Anything about Ancient Irish Dress!?
Any good illustrations, Images anyone knows I can get historically accurate clothing from ancient Irish Dress!? Men and Women!. I know of Reconstructinghistory, that is much later on in Irish history, any older works I can work from!? Anyone know what they exactly wore, I know they DID wear shoes, so don't argue that with me, I am only looking for fashions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

their cloth was thick an coarse, dyed in bright primary or secondary colours, with red as the favourite but also blue, black, green, yellow and natural colour!. it was plain, striped or woven in a check pattern!.
skins of animals with or without fur were also used as clothing for warmth!.
mens clothing comprised of 3 main items,
A tunic, which had long or short sleeves, a round hole for the head, and was knee length or shorter for younger men!. a Leather belt, often decorated with bronze or iron brooches was worn around the waist!.
A cloak, which was rectangle or circle about 4' by 4' or 5' and fastened by a brooch on the chest or right shoulder!. it was fur-lined or entirely of fur skin!. it was dark and unpatterned usually blue or black!.
Breeches or trousers that were made out of woolen cloth or skins and fastened at the waist and ankles by a thong threaded through the material, then tied!.
men of rank usually wore an undergarment made of coarse light coloured linen, that resembled a short sleeved shirt!. sometimes a loin cloth or short breeches were worn!.

women wore an ankle length tunic, in the same check, striped or plain material as the men!. that had short or long sleeves and a round hole for the head!. it was normaly girdled with a leather belt encircled high in the waist, hip belts in th form of metal circular brooches were also worn with a purse and daggar!.
annother garment known as a "gwn" or gown was often worn ontop of the tunic by women of rank, this was usualy 3/4 length and had short or no sleeves and was of a check or striped pattern!.
they wore a cloak identical to the mens!.
they wore a short, simple, linen tunic as underware, more than one was worn in cold weather!.

footware was of simple design and made out of rawhide!.
