I guess because some people had different theories and beliefs about it!. Like Christianity and Catholic!. It's basically the same thing just different views on some parts but I think those are a type of Protestantism!. Just like any other religion!. Some are similar some aren't!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

People are stubborn in their religious beliefs!. They all had a slight to major variation in what they believed!.

A good example would be Protestantism in the 13 original colonies!. Puritanism was the major religion in the early days of the colonies but soon many others who didn't like the strictness of the Puritans split off and formed many other religions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I wouldn't call it a split!. While there are minor differences, [eg baptism, predestination] all the mainstream protestant religions hold the same basic beliefs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
