Position:Home>History> T or F? Half the people that ever lived, lived under the Roman Empire? ?Question: T or F!? Half the people that ever lived, lived under the Roman Empire!? !? I know the Roman Empire lasted for a long time but world population was considerably low up until recent years!. This can not be true, can it!?
Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: False!. There's six billion of us living here now!. Just using that number and ignoring all those who have lived before us we can divide by two and reach three and a half billion people, which is simply absurd, even if you fudge and count the Roman Republic as part of the Empire!. If you decide to be literal and only count the Empire as the period from Augustus to the end, then it's even more ridiculous!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Chances are it is false, however it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say it is true!. This is, of course, assuming we start counting people at the onset of our written history!. If not, then we're going back millions of years and it it unbelievably false!. But, if we start counting after we have written human history, then it could very well be true!. The Roman Empire lasted from about 500 BCE to 1450 CE!. During this time the Empire grew and shrank in size drastically, at one point encompassing all of Europe and a good chunk of western Asia and northern Africa, to just a small city in the middle east at the end of its existence!. But, if this is for a test or something, the safe bet is false!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Umm Well i'd say false!. But western civilization is basically roman civilization!. So you could consider "the west" to be a continuation of the roman empire!. Www@QuestionHome@Com I would think that is false!.Www@QuestionHome@Com False!.Www@QuestionHome@Com FalseWww@QuestionHome@Com |
