At that time the key phrase is "The Pope of Rome shall have no jurisdiction in this realm of England"!. Henry VIII's Act was a nationalist rebellion!. Sure he wanted a divorce, but more substantially he wanted power, and independence for his kingdom!.

A little later the first Book of Common Prayer was published under Edward VI and ideas like the use of English rather than Latin in church were coming in!.

Having gained its independence from rome, England of course drew inspiration from Protestant ideas thriving elsewhere in Europe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Henry VIII wanted a male heir and he was convinced that his wife couldn't produce one, so he wanted a divorce!. The Church wouldn't allow one, and so he broke off from the Church!. Any theological differences were pretexts dreamed up after the fact!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
