Some explorers thought the earth was flat like a disk!. Thes explorers feared falling off the edge of the earth, Other explorers did not think the earth to be flat!. These explorers are likely the ones making the more important discoveries!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Um, as far as I now!.!.!.they didn't!. It's a myth that people once believed in the so called flat earth!. People knew the world was a sphere since classical Greek times!.

They believed it was flat, and when they came to the edge of it, there would be nothing left, but to either turn around or fall off the edge!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't know how "early" we're talking about, but the horizon is an optical illusion that appears flat and straight!. That's why some people thought that the Earth was a platter instead of a sphere!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There was a belief that the earth was flat (gravity/astronomical principles not yet determined) so if you got to the "end", you might go over, just like a waterfall!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
