Well when humans started losing their fur, they needed something to keep themselves warm!. So they originally just wore animal skins, not particularly in any style!. Then as we became more modernized and became a civilization, we started, well, modernizing clothes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

More than anything else, the primary purpose of clothing is as a social signifier!. Clothing, and ornament, tell others in your society who you are, how you fit in, how they can expect you to behave, and how they should treat you!.
Even in tropical places like Papua New Guinea or the Amazon jungle, people wear clothing of some kind!. So although "keeping warm when it's cold" seems intuitively like the right answer, that answer does not explain the world-wide desire of humans for clothing and adornment!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For colder climates they did to keep warm!. They wrapped animal skins around their feet and bundled up under furs!.
