It built an empire using its navy which was the largest in the world along with the industrial Revolution which started and flourished there this made it the most technically advanced with ready made markets for its goods!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because it had a navy that dominated all the world's oceans and therefore world trade!.
also its position on the west coast of Europe meant it was in a good position on the trade routes between Europe and the Americas and Africa!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
