Yes, they did, much the same length as holidays today!. Of course, in those days many children would have left school at a much younger age than they do now!.

At the beginning of Victoria's reign, there would have been many children who did not go to school at all, but started work at the same age children today would start school!. However, in the course of her reign several acts of parliament were passed restricting the hours that children could work, and raising the age at which they could start work!. And provisions began to be made for all children to receive schooling!.

Even so, at the turn of the last century, there would still have been a great many children who would have left school to go to work at the age of about twelve!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
