Okay!.!.!. well, there's a lack of motivation on the British side for the following reasons:

A) Distance!. It's more than 300 miles away, and it's a hassle transporting troops and heavy artillery back and forth by sea!. Do take note that it takes well over a month to travel!.!.!. so it's not even just distance, but it takes too much time!.

B) The Thirteen Colonies are NOT the only colonies the British have!. The British was a HUGE empire back then, and a skirmish that happens in the New World isn't going to be a huge deal to them!. I'm pretty sure that in British history textbooks, the American Revolution is only briefly mentioned because it wasn't important!.

C) America has a lot of geographical locations, such as mountains, rivers, valleys, swamps, etc!. It's different from the lands in Britain, and it's difficult for British troops to accommodate to this!.

But the reasons to why the British went to the colonies was because they benefited from the goods from America that's not found in Britain!. A huge deal was tobacco, which couldn't be grown in Britain because of its climate, but it was perfect in the South!.

So yeah!.!.!. umm!.!.!. if you need more questions, just give a call xD!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love your Avatar!. So cool!. Where did you get it!?

Anyway, I'm having a hard time understanding your question!. I think there are several reasons the British fought to retain American Colonies but they all come down to money and power;

1!. They enjoyed tax revenue they received from the colonies!.

2!. Many wealthy British citizens had valuable land or investment holding in the colonies!.

3!. Allowing the colonies to simply succeed would undermine British authority at a time they were in a fierce rivalry with France for world dominance!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
