Bacon's Rebellion--it set a precedent for local resistance to British Colonial laws, the right to bear arms, and the tone for dealing with Native American tribes on the frontier!. It also highlighted class differences between local debtors and the corrupt aristocracy that the leaders of the American Revolution would use 100 years later!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

tobacco plantations!sadly, because the vice was the only means by which the colonies became selfsufficient!however the rise in "truly diversified farming and husbandry" made the colonies not only self sufficient but independant!for a long time mining and metalurgy were discouraged as these industries would have produced armaments and also trade goods that the smaller home country could not have competed with in scale of production ,availability of natural resources and ,as it turned out, in the absolute superiority of those products of american native manufacturing!cases in point :the kentucky rifle, only produced in small numbers for individuals who absolutely relied, daily,on a weapon that required exacting standards of accuracy and quality!it had no peer for ease of use, standards of workmanship, survivability and accuracy!each weapon produced was a treasured work of art even by modern standards of those terms!"bog iron" from meteorites in shallow ponds was the only native metal available for decades in america!manufactured goods were made artifiicially scarce and dearly expensive by plan to maintain dependance upon the "mother countries'" industries! severing these sorts of dependancies ,and the clear availabilities and quantities of truly "unlimited" natural resources free for the labor to harvest them!.!.made independace of "matter of time"beyond governmental control!!serious interdictions of industry, business and personal freedom of movement and laws against the spreading of settlement were imposed in various ways!.!.!.but every stiffling of english expanded settlement prohibitions left the territories west open to spain, france, portugal, and holland and other seafaring nations exploring for colonial establishment and renewing the resources for their countries' waning economic basises!!so ,gradually, holding one's own countrymen in check led to foreign incurrsions which had to be curtailed by force of arms and warfare!example:"the french and indian wars"and wars over the ohio river valley and kentucky and blue mountain watersheds; and the mississippi watershed starting at the great lakes which continued all the way to "the battle of new orleans" in 1814!.!.long after "the war of 1812" against the former british home government from which "the revolution of 1776"had made america independant!.!.this andrew jackson led battle added by frech colonial society members and jean lafittes "pirates" from the bayous further punctuated the former colonies severance and self determination of sovereignity and earmarked the leading forces leading to a doctrine of "maifest destiny" looking westward!during this whole period Cotton ,with the attending institution of slavery ,had supplanted tobacco as "thee" major cash crop!.!.!.larger and larger landholdings became a key to wealth and national independance!!the burgeoning british "industrial revolution's" waterwheel-based economy could absorb every bale of cotton the states could produce and from the 1800's well into the American Civil War" this economic tie with England kept bonds between the great plantation families and the home country which even are strong and noted today!however, strong native ingenuity and inventions like the "cotton gin",mechanical harvesting devices, products with interchangable parts like sewing machines, pistols and farming equipment severed the need for such "overweening" economic pairings and reliances!!slavery became at first a blessing that put america ahead of all countries ;but the machinery made this less and less a necessity and the civil war punctuated an ending to slavery ,if not in fact ,at least in intent!.!.!.that the country's future would rely not on human labor as much as it would on inventions and devices, to largely do away with the reliance upon human bondage and indeed intensified agrarian human labor of the most grevious and strenuous sort!tobacco and cotton , still, have a very important economic impact on our modern economy but machines ,in the form of robots, now even paint our cars, weld them and move them down automated assembly lines to expectant buyers without jobs!Www@QuestionHome@Com
