Question: What is the history of Kashmir, and historicaly, culturaly which nation has it always been a part of !?
India or Pakistan !?

I am not Indian or Pakistani but I know a bit bout their history and stuff, I know that Pakistan was essentialy non existent until India was granted independence and so the british carved out a new country from India to house muslims!.

So in theory, can a country that only came into existence 60 odd years ago, dictate history, culture and 'legalities' to a nation that has been on this earth for thousands of years steeped in rich history !?

Is Kashmir belonging to Pakistan or India !? who's land is it !?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Kashmir - Indian sub-Continent!. However, if some guy in Whitehall, on the eve of partition, takes a map of the sub-Continent and draws border lines between what was about to become India, West Pakistan and East Pakistan, then mistakes are inevitable!.
Partition was drawn up on religious grounds!. Majority Muslim States - the two Pakistans - majority Hindu States - India!. This left many areas in limbo, including Kashmir and Gujarat!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Pakistan, Kashmir all belonged to India - however its occupiers, the british divided it and have kept the constant divisions there so that the two nations never rise to become a power as they were about 300 years ago!.

As far as i understand Kashmir wants to be apart of Pakistan!. However, i believe it should just be a separate country ALTOGETHER so the differences between India and Pakistan are settledWww@QuestionHome@Com

On this issue and before making the partition of India in two independent states, GB should have held a referndum on this vital question!. But she did not and preferred according to thre Roman sentence: diivide et venceras, divide the country thinking that in this way she could manage her influence in this former colony splitting it into two nations!.
A nice mess for ever and ever!Www@QuestionHome@Com
