It declared war on the USA and thus against the greatest productive capacity of industry in the world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Germany simply did not have the economy to fight a prolonged war!. As the war dragged on, and Germany invested an enormous amount of energy into the debacle in Russia, their finances began to fall off!. His intention was only to invade Russia through Poland, a limited war which he could have won!. When France and Britain declared war he was forced to fight in the west which led to forces being tied up there in garrison!.
