Queen Victoria as has already been pointed out what the longest reigning sovereign of England (and the United Kingdom)!. She ascended the throne at the tender age of 18, making her one of the youngest to ascend the throne (not the youngest as there are instances of children becoming a reigning monarch, like Edward VI but this was rare)!. She has nine children, who married into most of the major royal households in Europe meaning that many of Europe's Royal families are related to her!.

There are a great many things that can be said about her other than this!. Her reign saw great social and technological change!. There are a whole host of famous philanthropists, engineers, inventors, artists and authors who produced their best works during her reign!. She was the first people's monarch, dearly loved by the people and a refreshing change to the other members of the House of Hanover!. Queen Victoria had the longest reign of any British Monarch (1837-1901) at 63 years!. During this period Great Britain became the leading World Power!. In 1876 she became Empress of India:
