Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
No, they will not be removed!. First, the cost is prohibitive!. Then there's the matter of the cable having enough integrity to be brought up!. If it breaks apart, the time spent fishing for and pulling back up the next segment would be too high!.
Given the depths of the cable, its effects on the ecosystems are probably minimal!. Certainly the life around them, if any, have had time to adapt to their slowly corroding materials!. Their placement were engineering marvels of the time, and they served a useful purpose, but they are as outdated as sailing a Carrack across the ocean would be today!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I doubt it!. I would assume they are being actively maintained too!. It'll always be a fall back for governments/civilization in case of a major disaster!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If they are not being used they cannot cause harm and even if they do well it could just be their rotting that can cause it!.And DUH!!! if it was that easy than wouldn't people go dig for oil than destroy them!.!.HuhWww@QuestionHome@Com
