Well I disagree that he was the most influential, but he certainly was an important historical figure!.

Born in Mecca 570 AD, Mohammed founded the religion of Islam, which would cause much chaos 400 years later during the Christian Crusades to capture Jerusalem!. He preached to many people about his god Allah, through a book known as the Qur'an, which contained "divine texts"!. This faith was then spread through Egypt, Iran, Turkey and Palestine!. It took years to develop and had influence over invading bodies as well, such as the Mongols who were converted!.

Basically, the creation of Islam affected world events in the past and to this day!. It made hositilities between the East and West slowly grow abysmal, triggering a series of conquests!. We see this in the Moor invasion of Spain, where they controlled most of its territory up to 850 AD !. The Ottoman Empire also expanded its land mass, imposing their rule over modern Greece and Croatia, before being halted at Vienna and pushed back!.

This one man has altered the customs, attitudes and values of the original Middle-Eastern people!. We see the war in Iraq against terrorism, a result of conflicting religious beliefs!. The whole of the East has totally different opinions compared to the West when it comes to spirituality and God!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

According to Michael Hart himself, Muhammad was the only man in history who was supremely successful in both religious & secular ways!.
According to one website about Hart's book The 100, Muhammad was the only figure who was successful as a religious, political, & military leader!. I think Moses is somehow similar, but it's probably safe to say that Muhammad's success was on much larger scale!.

He created Islam, and was their famous prophet!. Islam created one of the largest empires, who were at the forefront of medicine, and science!. They created coffee!. This empire survived until WW1 until the Ottoman Empire, havoing beat the Christians in the Crusades!.
