Do you mean the Sturmabeitlung oder die kinder!?

Well I am supposing you are meaning the children, during the end of the war in 1945!?

As you know Hitler had established during his regime a youth program known as Hitler Youth which all people from as young as 8 to 18 had to join!. It was compulsary!. However, he actually had some support in this and many children became very devoted to the Nazi regime and even often were more cruel than the SS and even betrayed their parents and friends who were Jews etc!.

Thus, in the final showdown in Berlin, Hitler forced and convinced some youth to become soldiers and to defend their homes!. Most of them were to be suiciders who were to hold grenades whilst run towards the tanks and hope that the tanks blow up as they die!.

During this time, many of the Germans were in full retreat, as the Soviet army and Allied army both raced to try capture Berlin first (in order to have a better negotating poistion with each other on territories etc)!.

Unfortunately, the lack of adult soldiers meant children had to become conscript soldiers!. Their downfall wasn't anything but Hitler's death and the surrender of General Wilding (commander of Berlin troops)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The remnants of the Wehrmacht and the volksstrum were grossly outnumbered, for starters!. More, however, they were not physically very fit (being composed of those usually too young for military service, or those too old for it), were trained poorly or not at all, and were armed with whatever could be scraped up, and usually had very little ammunition!. Lastly, none of them were much experienced, and the forces they faced were the hard core, superbly armed and very experienced Red Army forces!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

The beginning of the end for the Nazi reign over most of Europe Began with the invasion of Normandy!. That was when American forces as well as other countries storm Frances beaches, drove the Nazis out of France, giving America, Russia, and Britain a key Ally to help push back the Nazis back into Germany and the destruction of the Nazi army, leading to Hitler and his wife committing suicide!.

The soldiers left in Berlin at the end of the war were old men and young boys!. Half of them had no guns or ammunition!. And none of them had any training to be soldiers!.They were cold and hungry and knew it was the end for them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ultimately, it was numbers!. They were grossly outnumbered!. It also helped that Stalin sent in his meanest troops!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
