Question: If Rommel had succeded in his battles in Africa, would this of helped Germans in WWII!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes, Hitler knew Rommel's talent but also hated him for a number of other reasons!. If Hitler had given him the supplies he needed, he would of won Africa!.

In fact, this would of been a turning point in the war!. With Africa he could capture many of Britains and other prizes such as Egypt!. With these, it would be similar to a game of Risk, from Egypt the Germans would have more supplies following their tactics of using suppleis they captured, then they would also have more bases and would of eliminated European power in Africa and could then fight in Middle East, they had Turksih help etc!.!.!.

In general, it would of been better, if Hitler had given Rommel his supplies!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

None of you are listening to his question!. This is assuming Germany succeeded in Africa!. These definitely would have effected the outcome of the war!.

Point 1: Rommel was using lots of resources in Africa, plus the time/vehicles it took to get the supplies there!. Rommel was also, to my knowledge, in charge of a panzer division!. Once the Germans won, they would just need to establish forts in the towns and other key points in Africa, and could pull the heavy armor out to be use other places!.

Point 2: Rommel was a great general who would have been better used other places!.

So yes, it definitely would have helped, just in my opinion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Unlikely, but possible!.

If Rommel had been able to push the Britons across North Africa and into the middle east, he could have possibly pushed them out of North Africa and into Afghanistan, thus opening a second from in Russia via the Caucasus or Crimea!. With this second front it would be possible to encircle the entire Red Army and destroy it from both sides!.

German checkmate on Russia, now to India or Britain!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No the German industry was unable to keep up with that of the allies!. Even if Rommel had been successful in every engagement he would have eventually been over run by the sheer number of tanks and men the allies!. Rommel frequently complained about low supplies and in many instances of no supplies!. It is remarkable that he had been as successful as he was!. I believe he was a remarkable general and a decent man!. He never participated in the genocide and openly condemned the actions of the SS!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Rommel was working with two understrength Panzer division, supporting two decent Italian armoured units and some pretty lack lustre Italian infantry!.

He never had the constancy of supply or the resources he needed to consolidate on his victories of to deliver a knock out blow!.

He did make it to within striking distance of Cairo and the Suez canal, a great strategic prize!. With a little more support, a regular supply line (for instance, dropping the parachutists into Malta instead of Crete) and some luck, he could have opened the route to the middle east, solved the desperate need for oil and threatened Britain's Asian colonies!.

It would have big a big help, but the OKW was fixated on Russia!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not really!.

The North African front
a) a minor objective compared to securing France and conquering England!.

b) it was diverting resources needed elsewhere, especially after Hitler looned in on operation Barbarossa and opened the Russian front, thus biting more than he could chew and sealing ultimate outcome of the warWww@QuestionHome@Com

Ultimately, no!.

The British had total air superiority in North Africa, and Rommel could never have gotten the reinforcements or supplies he needed!. It might have dragged on for a little while longer, but ultimately he was in a no-win situation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no!. it was too early in the war and germany was still gaining power elsewhereWww@QuestionHome@Com
