The battle of Hastings was a battle between the Normans (from normandy, France) and the English which took place on the coast of England, near Hastings in Sussex!.

Normandy is the Northernmost point of France, which is pretty much facing Hastings on the other side of the English Channel!.

The Normans won, with the king of England (King Harold) at the time being killed in battle, traditionally thought to be by an arrow through his eye and Duke William of Normandy becoming William I of England (AKA William the Conqueror)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Neither, it was the French!.!.

Edit : for the pedants amongst us, as William the Conqueror was the leader of the invasion, and he was born in Falaise, which is in FRANCE, I think you will find the French won, regardless of splitting hairs about a couple of islands which are included in Normandy, the leader was actually French!.!.!.that is why he was the Duke of Normandy, not the King of Normandy because Normandy was considered to be part of France!.
