I support Senator Obama, and I intend to vote for him as I did in the Senate election!.

I agree with Slowhand, because it's usually a mistake to set up any President on a pedestal!. It tends to create a very high standard, that not every President, regardless of what they want to do, is able to live up to!.

For me, at this moment, its enough that he's an honest man, who I believe is more capable of doing the job than his opponent!.

There's a recoil effect that goes along with high expectations!. My example is the indigenous people in the Americas!. When I was in college, there was a growing image of the guardians of the Earth, and this was sort of like a bubble!. When it came to light that, in antiquity, prior to the horse, buffalo were stampeded off a cliff during a hunt, it burst the bubble!. It shouldn't have, a village needed to eat and someone decided that this might be a good idea, saving hunters from getting trampled by sneaking up on the herd!.

But we had set our minds on perfection, some sort of an idol, and when they turned out to be very ordinary, hungry people trying to survive, the bloom came off the rose!.

And remember too that Lincoln and FDR were not too popular in their day!. Lincoln was pretty unpopular throughout his administration, and FDR had good numbers in 1936, but they fluctuated in later years!.

Presidents are not separated from the world, somewhere beyond the circumstances they find their nation's in, they have to take what comes and make the best of it!.

The two examples you've chosen were faced with incredible crises, Lincoln with the war, and FDR with the Depression and the War!. Their presidencies are seen in the context of what obstacles they had to overcome!. And I'm not referring to FDR's physical challenges, the circumstances he faced would be formidable for anyone in any physical condition!.

I consider Roosevelt to have been our greatest President, who just happened to have polio!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ahem, no!.

Senator Barack Obama is more likely God's judgment about to be visited upon America, more akin to former President Carter!.

His potential judicial appointees will bring ruin and destruction on the freedoms of the people of this nation like no other in history!. His foreign policy will lead us into becoming a second world power behind the emerging new superpowers of China, India, and the oil-rich reemerging Russia!. He will place us further in jeopardy to the Muslim Terrorist threat through appeasement!.

Likely, Senator Obama, should he be elected, will be the worst President, ever!. He stands on the wrong side of every important issue of our times!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

The answer one makes to this question is (obviously) dependant on one’s view of governmental structure!. If you are supportive of large general government which is increasingly intrusive (my bias) into the lives of individuals, you will be appreciative of both Presidents Lincoln and Roosevelt!. It would also seem reasonable for such appreciation to extend to Senator Obama in that he is clearly socialist in approach to government!.

To compare the times of President Lincoln and President Roosevelt to today’s situations is not very logical!. A war fought within the American borders and economical depression of a magnitude only diminished by the largest world war with which we’ve ever been involved!.

Today we have a serious economic situation but one that is of our own making (bad government banking decisions and extreme poor management of large corporations in the financial sector) but yet a situation which we can work ourselves out of without panic!.

It is too bad however, that at such a juncture we have such poor choices of major party candidates!. As a nation we stand (today) on a multiple generations of the general national government encroaching on State Constitutional functions and increasingly becoming intrusive in the lives of the individual!. What we need is elected officials (at all levels) who aggressively follow the Constitution!. What we have is a Congress led by individuals who promote and seek expanding and new roads into the lives of individuals!. The two presidential candidates are both of this same ilk with the different being only the degree that one or the other embraces the path of big government!.

In this context, looking only at the proposals of the candidates, Senator Obama clearly follows the socialist path of governmental action!. For example his desire to implement national health care which is clearly extra constitutional but one which the current leadership of Congress has been awaiting only a president with the same degree of intensity to bring it to life!. Such governmental programs (where attempted) have always been a failure!.

His honesty is more than a little suspect!. For example, his approach to gun ownership has been demonstrated throughout his life time as very antigun while he states that he supports the 2nd Amendment!. The recent Hellar case demonstrates his loose playing with the facts!. Until this case was recently decided by the court (in favor of Hellar) Senator Obama supported Washington DC as correct in its antigun position and used his ‘professor of law’ back ground to justify his judgment!. Subsequent to the court decision against Washington DC he now says that he has been for the position of the court (which isn’t true) and yet (in paradox) he supports Washington DC’s current efforts to find a way around the court’s decision!.

In short, his proposed governmental programs are representative of a socialist perspective and are decidedly extra-constitutional and his statements are often less than truthful (his history with acorn and his past associations with less than savory individuals!.

No his is not the anointed one nor even a politician with reasonable experience or good judgment!.

I hope this isn't question to be answered in ANY class!. This is a question that will answer itself in about a month!. God has sent many people into this World!. FDR said " There are no extraordinary people, just ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances!." Senator Obama is a good man!. WHEN AND IF becomes President, we as the people god has put here as the citizens of this great nation stand BESIDE him to rescue our country from this crisis!. There is a book, Presidential Anecdotes!. Read On all the "Ordinary" people that were our presidents!!!! And lets us hope WE THE PEOPLE can get ourselves out of this crisis, with a little help from the government!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah, right!? NOT!. I hardly believe God would send a man who believes in killing the unborn to save America, unless it is a judgement against us, and we are to suffer for the lives lost to abortion!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Why does US politics seem to have more in common with an old style tent revivalist meeting than a serious and sober assessment of the policies of the candidates!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Lets not nominate him for sainthood yet!. He hasn't even been elected!. Right now he is just another politician that can talk the talk!. We'll see if he can walk the walk!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
