Question: Question involving the declaration of independence!?
I have a presentation due tomorrow for History and i'm confused on what to write it on!. I have to apply the declaration if independence to the British!. It's a perspective and I'm the British!. It says that I thought I was being awfully nice and I have to apply the declaration and prove my point that the British were being nice!.

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated!. Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not understanding what you're asking!.

Here's what I'm getting from your question:
You have a presentation in history class tomorrow where you have to apply the Declaration of Independence from the British point of view and present your case as if you were the British!?!?

So you're talking about American vs British points of view on the culture and atmosphere that led up to the Declaration of Independence and how the British could have argued that they were taking proper care of the American Colonies!?!?

I'm not sure you have a very strong case, but I suppose you could always point out supply shipments, protection from invading forces, rules, funding, infastructure that all came from the English!.!.!.

This seems like a pretty useless, crappy and retarded assignment if you ask me!. Who comes up with this crap!?!?!? Yeah, the English had a good point, so much of a good point that wealthy American Colonists were willing to commit treason, sign a death warrant to themselves and their families, lose everything, raise an army of farmers to fight one of the strongest powers in the world, and branch off into starting and running their own country with colonies that barely tollerated eachother with a notion for a nation that had never been attempted before, with minimal budget and no real political know-how or recognition!.!.!. Yeah, the British were being "nice"!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To the British, the Declaration of Independence, pure and simple, was treason and anyone who signed their names to it could be captured and hanged as traitors to the British Crown!. I think a unique way to do your assignment would be to research what you as a member of the British House of Lords would have at stake at the time and then read the D of I as if reading it for the first time!. The British badly needed money to fight wars elsewhere and they saw the Americas as theirs to plunder and tax and take from!. And now all of a sudden here are a couple fo backwoodsmen saying "I don't think so!." I think Britain's most immediate repsonse would be "How dare they!" and then they would send someone over to knock some heads together and bring home the necessary materials and funds and the heads of the traitors!. What they didn't count on was the amount of resistance and a new kind of guerilla type warfare that didn't fight in the open in nice red coats for targets but colonists who hid behind trees and ran into the swamps!. There's also be a kind of "Stay and fight like a man!" mentality as you're getting your butt kicked this way!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sorry but I am confused as to what you are actually asking here!.

Are you trying to say you want to write a paper on "What if the Declaration of Independence" was for the British instead of the Americans!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't believe even the British thought that what they were doing was "nice", but necessary for the good of the empire!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
