Certainly a living culture can disappear in its known forms and their are many examples!. There was never culture with which Rome came into contact that remained in a stable form!.

However, rather that make the case that the culture disappears I suggest that the culture is consume by the conquering culture!. Rather than disappear its parts become part of the winning culture!.

There are some few instances where an entire cultural peoples are wiped out and their cultural attributes become defunk existing only in the records of those who have conquered these people!. I believe that there are some examples of this with tribe in the South American Amozon Basin and in the jungle areas of New Zeland!.

A clear example of this is in 1066 when William conquered England and instituted new systems of government!. However, by 1215 much of the original cultural systems return as the Common Law comprising the Magna Carta!.

So too within the United States with indigenous peoples!. Certainly their cultures changed and in some case a great deal, however few totally disappeared and today the descendants are (in many cases) bringing back those former cultural attributes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
