Question: When was the vikings time period!?
just wondering!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The Viking period in England started in approximately 789 AD when the first recording of a sighting of a Viking ship is made!. It ends in the late 11th century, before the Battle of Hastings in 1066!.

In other parts of Europe the Viking period has a different chronology!. For example the Normans were only a generation or two removed from the Vikings (Normans being a corruption of Northmen or Norsemen, other names by which Vikings were known as)!. The safest thing to say is that they flourished between the 8th and 11th centuries!.

No no Melody, it was earlier!. Vikings were running around during the late 700s!. They had their hay-day in the tenth century, establishing powerful kingdoms not only in Scandinavia, but in Germany, Denmark, and the lowlands!. They colonized Iceland and Greenland, and even set up a temporary settlement in North America!. England had a few Viking kings as well!. The Viking Age is generally said to have ended after the defeat of Godwinson in 1066 by King Harold!. That battle directly preceded Hastings, in which the Normans conquered England!.
