This is an odd question!. o!.o

I suppose you could look at the ancient Roman wars, but the problem there is that alot of their fighting was done in thick wooded areas with Barbarians!. Hmm!.!.!.

The Japanese Samurai, during the Sengoku Judai, or the Japanese Civil Wars around the 1600's had alot of this type of fighting!. The battle of Sekigahara, which took place between Tokugawa Ieyasu and Mitsunari Ishida, is just about one of the best examples of two warlords armies clashing on an open field!. If you're looking for examples of modernized warfare!.!.!.

Just about the last time that happened was in the Revolutionary War or the Civil War!. Other than that, its all been airbourne, missile, and long-distance warfare for the world, unfortunately!.

I kinda wish I had been around to see the days of swords and bows and arrows!. No honor in war today!.

EDIT -- I don't think she's asking about movies, guys!. Everyone here has quoted movies so far!. Talk about real history, not those horribly inaccurate movies!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"The Charge of the Light Brigade"

There was also pretty good charging scenes in "Braveheart"

And, of course, "Troy" had some rather impressive scenes!.

Basically, just about any war that was fought prior to firearms had hordes of people running at each other -- after the gun, they tended to keep their distance! :-)Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Civil War!. There are many reenactment scenes with this type of fighting!. I think in fiction there was fighting like this in the movie Brave Heart!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
