Constantinople (former Byzantium, later Istanbul) was the capital of the Byzantine Empire, the Eastern Roman Empire!. At the time the Byzantine Empire flourished, Constantinople grew out to be a beautiful city, with beautiful art and architecture!. It is named after Constantine, a Roman Emperor that decided to split the Roman Empire in half, trying to make it work more efficiently again!.

Constantinople turned into Istanbul when the Turks brought the Byzantine Empire to a fall in 1453!. This is the official year for the end of the European Middle Ages!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
