The russian troops had surrendered the bunker and were slowly moving toward it!. When it was reported to Hitler that the last attempt to break out had failed he decided that he did not want to be captured by the Russians alive!. He committed suicide, his dody was removed from the bunker and taken to a trench originally dug as a fighting position, where his and Braun bodies were place, and soaked with 55 liters of gasoline and then ignited!. 6 hours later the pit was filled in by an SS detachment!. Stalin had assigned a KGB Colonel with the task of finding Hitlers remains!. The letter from Stalin the Colonel made him a very powerful man!. The Colonel found a set of burned bones buried in a shallow unmarked grave 166 meters from Hitlers bunker!. The bones were brought to Stalin where he kept them in his private quarters in the Kremlin!. Supposedly they are still their today!. It has been reported that Putin had the DNA of the bones tested as recent as 2005 to validate that they belong to Hitler!. But officially the Russian government continues to deny their existence!. The bridgework has been independantly identified as Hitler's from old newsreel footage and photographs!. The skull fragment has evidence of an exit wound!.
