The modern telephone is the result of work done by many people, all worthy of recognition of their contributions to the field!. Alexander Graham Bell was the first to patent the telephone, an "apparatus for transmitting vocal or other sounds telegraphically" after experimenting with many primitive sound transmitters and receivers!. However, the history of the invention of the telephone is a confusing mass of claims and counterclaims, further worsened by lawsuits which attempted to resolve the patent claims of several individuals!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Alexander Graham Bell obtained the first US patent!.

His daughter Elsie was married to Gilbert Grosvenor, the first full time editor of The National Geographic Magazine!.
Grosvenor was a cousin of former President Wm!. H!. Taft!.

Grambell did patent the phone first ahead of his American rival!. But its believed that the telephone technology was shipped from Asia!. There have been ancient devices in both India and China which bore resembelance to the telphone but were primitive !.

Supposedly another man named Gray was working on a model of the phone at the same time Bell was!. Apparantly Bell was the first to file the PATENT, so he got the credit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
