Had the lowest approval rating of any modern president to date!. Started off well and his administration went downhill rapidly Oversaw a decline in the economy when he inherited the previous administrations poor economic policies!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Well, here is the thing!. Historians are not paid to have an opinion, just to present facts!. Being a historian myself, I know that it is my duty to share what factual records show has happened in the most unbiased way possible!. It is hard to say what a genuine historian might think of W!. Only time can tell!. Pundits, on the other hand, will probably have a negative view from both sides!. Www@QuestionHome@Com Abraham Lincoln was an unpopular war president, now considered one of the greatest ever!. Truman was unpopular, now he's respected!. Even Nixon gets a little respect now!. I think that after W's gone, and history proves he was right after all on more and more things, his rating will go up!. Plus, he's funny to watch and listen to, and just the amusement factor will make him more popular!. Well Lincoln we can only surmise but Truman lived in the era of approve/disapprove polling and never got anywhere NEAR Bush's current 70% disapproval rating!. I doubt Lincoln would have either!. He took 4% unemployment and raised it 50%!. He inherited 150 billion dollar surpluses and turned them into 450 billion dollar deficits!. The financial markets in his eight years lost at least 15% of their value (compared to being multiplied several times under his predecessor) and who knows how much lower it will go!. We have gone from being the ackonowledged lone superpower to being a laughing stock where even NATO allies scorn us and refuse to help because of the idiot's grade-school bully "diplomacy"!. That's some pretty good facts to start with!. America has not been attacked because of him!? Are US embassies not American!? Are military bases not American!? If not then there was no other attack on America under Clinton after the first WTC bombing - and the difference is he caught and punished the people who did it!. If so then we have lost HUNDREDS OF TIMES more lives under Bush than Clinton!. There are about 1% - the top earning 1% who became vastly richer as the rest of us suffered - who have ANY reason to prefer Bush to his predecessor beyond idiotic blind partisanship!.Www@QuestionHome@Com hard to say!. he'll probably be remembered as a sympathetic figure, much like Hoover!. History will find him to be correct on foreign policy but that is because the victors write history!. he isn't nearly as hated by the public as Truman or Lincoln were, so he has every reason to be optimistic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Disastrous!. He'll be judged one of the worst presidents ever!. On his watch, the US became embroiled in a stupid, unnecessary and ultimately unwindable war in Iraq, threw away a massive budget surplus and a enormous pool of political goodwill across the planet (in the wake of 9/11) and its economy crashed!. He alienated many of our allies, failed to manage foreign policy well enough to prevent the emergence of powerful anti-American blocks, and failed to do anything to help the American people, domestically!. His educational reform has been a bust, and his eeconomic stimulus ideas (especially tax cuts for the wealthy while trying to fight two wars!) have helped to bankrupt us!. In short: History will judge him to be one of the truly worst leaders in our entire history!.Www@QuestionHome@Com That his term started with the worst attack in the history of the United States, and that because of him, there were no other attacks for the rest of his terms!.
