Question: John and Abigail Adams!?
Does anyone know if John and Abigail Adams had slaves!? From what I have read so far they had "servants quarters" but that could mean that they employed white servants or black servants!. And also I have read that Abigail Adams did most of the household chores herself while John did the farm work!.
I am just curious, and considering the times and all it would have been quite rare for a man of his political and financial standing to not have slaves!. So just curious!. Easy ten points!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Abigail father was a minister!. John was a lawyer, a Harvard Grad!. John was hard working but they were not rich by the standards of the day!. They lived modest, hardworking lives!.
Over the years, Abigail and John (Abigail in particular) bought land west of Braintree MA and saved/invested most of their money wisely!.
When Adams died, he was well off, but again not rich!. His worth, land and all, was about $200,000!.
Ironically, that was almost the exact that Thomas Jefferson was in debt when he died!Www@QuestionHome@Com
