Well the Angles were already established before the Saxon's arrived!. The first portions of Britain they would have seen (North and East) would have already been called Angle land!. I guess the name stuck!.!.!.!.or maybe they just didn't want to name their new home Sexland!.!.!.!.:)

Are you saying the word Wales comes from slave !? I had thought it came from a Germanic root meaning stranger or foreigner (as in!.!.!.!.!.the people over the border from Angle land)!.

Angle-land was the old english pronounciation!. the "Brits" were celtic tribes who were pushed west by the advancing civilisations, not just to Wales (Cymru) but to Cornwall (Kernow), Ireland (Eire), and north to Scotland (Alba), also the celts across western Europe were pushed west (Brittany in France and Galecia in Spain)

I don't know where you got the "Wea-Las" from, I'm Welsh and have never heard of that one, what language is it from!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Angle-Land became England over time!. Words change as people pronounce them differently in different places, and before there was an accepted way of spelling, words could be spelt a number of different ways!. England just became the accepted way of spelling it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It just seems to have won out!. Though to the Welsh and the Scotch, the word for English is taken from Saxon, Seysnig etc!.
BTW DNA research has blown all this 'sent out to Wales' stuff to smithereens!. Very little new influx in fact!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
