Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
1) The Declaration of Independence was promulgated on 4 July 1776!. It had been passed two days earlier, and was not signed until four days later (by most members of Congress -- the President of the Congress, John Hancock, signed it on the Fourth)!. July 4th is considered the first day of Independence of the United States from the Crown of Great Britain!.

2) The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land!. No other law can circumvent or contradict any clause of the Constitution!.

3) The Legislative branch of government creates (drafts, or writes) bills intended to become statutory law!. These are not made into law, however, unless and until they are assented to by the President, who is head of the Executive branch, or (if he refuses his assent) by the overriding of his "veto" by a supermajority vote of the Legislative branch!. The legislative branch is made up of two houses -- the Senate and the House of Representatives!.

3) The Declaration of Independence was written by a five-person committee consisting of John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson of Virginia, Robert R!. Livingston of New York, and Roger Sherman of Connecticut!. The actual writing of the work was assigned to Thomas Jefferson, who is usually given sole credit for the Declaration!. However, the Declaration was reviewed and revised, and in fact was changed in significant ways by the Congress in debates, before it was officially issued!. So in some sense, it is a work of the entire Second Continental Congress!.

4) The United States Supreme Court is the highest court in the land!. It is the final arbiter of all legal questions, issues all current interpretations of the meanings of the clauses of the Constitution as applied to law, and sets precedent to be followed by all lower courts!. It accepts or rejects appeals made to it by the lower courts on the basis of the existence in the case of questions of Constitutional law!.

5) The Mayflower was the ship on which the group generally (by Americans) called "the pilgrims" arrived at Plymouth Rock (Massachusetts) in 1620!. Of course, "pilgrim" means anyone making a religious journey, though, so a great many pilgrims came to America on a great many ships, but the group most commonly known as "THE pilgrims" arrived on the Mayflower!.

6) The official name of the house in which the President lives is "The Executive Mansion!." However, it has been called (ever since the Presidency of Theodore Roosevelt in the first years of the 1900's) "The White House"!.

7) Well, the NATIVE Americans (American Indians) fought, in general, against the American colonists (and France, and even Spain)!. You probably are asking which nation the American COLONISTS fought against, though, and that was of course the Kingdom of Great Britain (and the various nations of Native American Indian tribes who were allied with the British)!. The American colonists were fighting to achieve their independence from the King of Great Britain!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We celebrate the 4th of July because it was July 4th when the Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence!.

The Constitution is the highest law!.

The Congressional Branch is the main branch which make the laws of the land, but the President (Executive Branch) and Supreme Court (Judicial Branch) also contribute

Thomas Jefferson is the one who drafted the Declaration of Independence, then the Continental Congress discussed it, made any necessary changes, and finally signed it!.

The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land!.

The Mayflower is the ship that brought the Pilgrims to America!.

The President lives in the White House!.

The Revolutionary War was fought between the Colonies and England when the Colonies declared their independence from England!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
