Kamikaze (神風) is a Japanese word, usually translated as divine wind, believed to be a gift from the gods!. The term is first known to have been used as the name of a pair or series of typhoons that are said to have saved Japan from two Mongol fleets under Kublai Khan that attacked Japan in 1274 and again in 1281

Kublai Khan twice attempted to invade Japan; however, both times, it is believed that bad weather, or a flaw in the design of the ships, destroyed the fleets!. The first invasion attempt took place in 1274, with a fleet of 900 ships!. The second invasion occurred in 1281, with a fleet of over 1,170 large war junks, each close to 240 feet long!. The campaign was badly organized, and the Korean fleet reached Japan well ahead of the Chinese fleet!. Overall, the Japanese fought very little in the invasion, but the times they did, they lost

Many of the ships were requisitioned river craft with flat bottoms and wobbly masts, and thus unstable in rough sea!.
Some of the ships had been poorly made, perhaps as the result of deliberate sabotage by Chinese shipbuilders who resented their Mongol conquerors

During the Tr?n Dynasty, ??i Vi?t repelled three invasions (in 1257 AD, 1284 AD, and 1288 AD) by the Mongols under Kublai Khan, who had occupied China and founded the Yuan dynasty (see Mongol invasions of Vietnam)!. The key to ??i Vi?t's successes was to avoid the Mongols' strength in open field battles and city sieges (the Tr?n court abandoned the capital and the cities), then countered them decisively at their weak points, which were battles in swampy areas (such as Ch??ng D??ng, Hàm T?, V?n Ki?p) and on rivers (such as Van ??n and B?ch ??ng)!. The Mongols also suffered from tropical diseases and loss of supplies to Tr?n army's raids!. The Yuan-Tr?n war reached its climax when retreating Yuan fleet was decimated at the Battle of Bach Dang (1288)!. The military architect behind Dai Viet's victories was Commander Tr?n Qu?c Tu?n, more popularly known as Tr?n H?ng ??oWww@QuestionHome@Com

BAH, another Mongolian who uses Chinese tactics!. Mongolia is weak if it had not studied China!. Oh well, I'll answer your question!.

I think in the Chinese people's opinons during that time, it was the Jade Emperor and the Order of Heaven which was against him!.

In Japan, Khan's force succeeded where it fought, however he carelessly used the Chinese Junk ships, which the future Chinese emperors claimed was not for a naval battle!. Khan's navy was weak and terrible so it failed in it's navy invasion of Japan!.

Whist this occured similarily in Myanmar and Vietnam where the navy was also weak and similarily failed!.

@ Hamster_99, you've just plagarised from Wikkipedia, please include the link!.

This is Hamster_99's info, it came from http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Kublai_Khan

also, it was mainly the organization the Mongolians showed, a good workman does not blame his tools!. The ships were strong and good, similar to the ones the Persians used but the Athenians used more manevourable ships!.

However, even though he conquered China, he seldom listened to the Chinese advice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
