1!. A Civil War general
2!. Governor of the New Mexico Territory after the war (the most lawless area in the country, and at the time that Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County Wars were going on)!.
3!. While Governor, he wrote books!. One of which was made into a silent movie first (starring Ramon Novarro), and then remade in 1959 - in which Charlton Heston won an Oscar!. "BEN HUR"
