Question: Why did federalists want a strong central government!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I'm not sure in total, but I can tell you that Alexander Hamilton wanted a strong federal government in part because of the establishment of credit!. He felt that if the US could attain a high credit rating then we could compete economically with Europe!. So he wrote his "Report On Public Credit" and asked for all of the states' debts be rolled together into one national debt!. It took some posturing but he eventually got Jefferson to help get it passed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
