When whites in the south regained the vote, they were seeking revenge against the abuse (real or imagined) they underwent by the north after the was!. The revenge manifested itself in whites regaining all political power, and used that power to disenfranchise the freedmen!. Freedmen were the most visible scapegoat for southern frustration, and least able to defend themselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
