Obviously, the 'original' Americans came from somewhere else, because all is descended from a common source - hominids like Lucy, who lived 3 million+ years ago!. It's believed that human life originated in or around what is today known as Ethiopia!. That meant that small groups of families could have spread in all directions from there - and what we know today as the great deserts was in those days, lush, tropical gardens, so it would have been quite easy to travel through them!.
There were land bridges between what is now the European continent and the Americas, and it is quite possible that the 'original' Native Americans came over these land bridges!. Later populations who came after the land bridges were flooded and the ice ages blocked travel, could well have travelled by boat and either come from China/Japan along the Aleutian chain and thence into the Americas, or could have travelled across from Spain or Portugal and driften to the Americas!.
No one truly has the definintve answer as yet, but DNA testing may help unravel this mystery!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
