I believe the US was the only true democracy beside British dominions in Canada, Australia and New Zealand although there was discrimination towards who could voteWww@QuestionHome@Com

depends on your definition of a democracy!.!.!.!. most 'democracies' of that time didn't allow women the vote!.!.!. so you could question how democratic they were

And if by the above poster's definition of democracy i guess that the united states right now is not a democracy seeing as how a large percentage of the population can not vote because of their lack of citizenship Www@QuestionHome@Com
