Historically I would probably say the British Empire in the 1800's which stretched all around the world with huge territorial claims in Africa, Asia, and Australia!. They even passed a law in parliament to say that their Royal Navy had to remain bigger than the next two biggest navies COMBINED!. The British Empire didn't "collapse" as such but it lost most of it's territories, and eventually fell behind other countries such as the United States and USSR during the 20th century!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
