When you refer to the laity you mean people who are not priest monks, nuns, minsters, rabbis etc Someone who is not an official
of a church!. So lay piety simply means the religious beliefs of the average person!.The same with lay mysticism!. You would be referring to someone who has a belief in Christian mysticism or else practises it but is not an official of any church just an average person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
