The revolt happened because the bill for the French and Indian/Seven Year's War came due and those in America (who benefited most) felt they were already paying a high enough tax to the crown!. The English back in England saw things differently!. The Americans birth rate was 25 times that of England and their ability to make money (Gross Domestic Product) had also well out paces England!. In fact, over the previous 100 years, it had increase 1000%!. It had come to a point where those in the colonies were now supporting financially those back in England, not the other way around!. With all of that in mind, those in the colonies wanted a local representative government that would be allowed an audience with the crown!. As it was, the local authority was The House of Burgesses!. It represented the crown and not the people!. They also did not rate a seat in Parliament back in London!. Making these requests, they were told "No!." So, they were being levied with higher taxes to pay for the war AND they were not given a voice in government!. Taxation without representation!.

Having said all of that, they revolted and the rest of the world (all of which was governed by monarchies) looked on!. Soon, the people of France were encouraged to throw off the shackles, and then several countries in South America, and elsewhere people began to revolt against the absolute authority of monarchy!. The American revolt changed the face of politics world wide!. Monarchies still exist but the governments in those countries/kingdoms are generally all representative!. That leaves most monarch as powerless or limited power figure heads!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The declaration of independence sparked a lot of revolutions, if you read it you'll see that it was for the world, not just America, and it sets the basic foundation of laws and human rights in our country, many countries don't have those freedoms, and it changed how many pages the history books have lolWww@QuestionHome@Com
