Question: History anyone a wiz!?

I need to know why it is important in our history when Australopithecines first walked upright on two legs and how it happened!.

It's important because it marked the first major difference between Australopithecines and the other mammals around them, who walked on four legs!. Australopithecines lived about 3!.9 milliion years ago and have long been extinct, but the fact that one of the Great Apes could walk on two legs was literally ground breaking - and the reason that we, today, walk on two legs!.
How did it happen!? Who knows!. There are no records from that time and we can only use our imaginations!. Perhaps they stood on their hind legs to pluck fruit from a tree!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Bipedal (as opposed to quadrepedal) locomotion is important because for the first time higher primates could use their hands to manipulate tools!. Without this advancement, we would not have developed tools to the extent that we have!.

This probably happened because the primates who would lean back momentarily to use their forelimbs were more successful at reproducing than the ones who didn't!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think the most accepted theory is that before man walked upright, he lived mostly in trees, so he didn't need to walk, just climb!. That's why apes have greater upper body strength than lower!. One day, one noticed that a neighboring tree had more succulent fruit, so he climbed down out of the one he was in and and crawled over to the other tree!.

Many thousands of years passed and along the way, he found that the farther he traveled, the more food he could gather!. By and by upright walking was invented!. Of course, the farther he walked the more predators he encountered, so he learned to run and that's why we walk and run today!.

I know what you're thinking: If we evolved from apes, why are there still apes!? Sorry, can't answer that one!.
