That was a live track form Woodstock, a famous three day outdoor concert in New York!.

In an interview with some of the concert's organizers it was said the tune wasn't planned!. It was the first set of the day after a rainy night and someone suggested they start the day with the National Anthem!. Jimmy played it off the cuff as the first tune of the day!.

An instant classic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you listen to him play, he makes the guitar/amplifiers make the sounds of bombs falling (SCREEeeeeeee- BOOOOoooom) rockets firing (Grrreee, grreee, grreee) and other sounds of war in order to protest America's involvement in the Vietnam war!.

It's a very recognizable piece, punctuated by the noises of modern combat!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That you could be a hippy AND a patriot!. He played it with passion and considerable sadness and anger!. This was the time off the Vietnam war!.

Give the song "Machine Gun" a listen - a very passionate cry against the war!. His bass player Billy Cox was a vet!.

I still love Jimi!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A different perspective!. Beautiful song, and country as seen through his eyes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
